University of California San Francisco
Professional Academic Education at UC San Francisco
The University of California, San Francisco prides itself on being the only campus dedicated solely to graduate and professional schools of study. The UCSF is dedicated to saving lives and improving the health of countless individuals, not only in Americans but also people around world. The UCSF time and again defines the boundaries of healthcare worldwide through the conduction of advanced biomedical research, as well as through the education of graduate students in the various life sciences, thus providing more than adequate complex patient care.
This public health sciences university began with the establishment of the Toland Medical College way back in 1864, which eventually led to the formation of the then fledgling University of California across the bay. This led to the combination of several scattered colleges, such as that of pharmacy and dentistry, and eventually, a school of nursing, and a graduate division. The campus continued on to build its own hospital and a clinic building in order to serve the people of the community better, and now is a bastion of medical expertise, respected by medical institutions around the world.
The University of California, San Francisco, hopes to serve even more people with its expansion of the Mission Bay campus, south of downtown San Francisco. It is now the largest biomedical university expansion in the country, doubling UCSF’s research space, and speeding up the pace of biomedical discovery.
