"Hollywood" could have gotten its name from a certain lady named Daeuda Wilcox in the early 19th century, when she named her family ranch. Having evolved from a mere ranch to a bustling area, Hollywood, as we presently know it, is a district found in Los Angeles City in the State of California.

The term "Hollywood", due to the glitter and glamour attached to it by its famous stars and celebrities, has become synonymous with the American Film Industry. Although it can be argued that the tentacles of the movie industry has since extended into adjacent areas like Westside and Burbank,

the appurtenant industries involving lighting, effects, editing, props and post-production companies have maintained its presence in Hollywood.

Hollywood, California is famously referred to as the Entertainment capital of the world being the home to dazzling stars and celebrities. Catering to the whims and tastes of such valued clientele, Hollywood boasts of having the most popularly known hotels and nightclubs as well as providing only the best attractions and shopping experience. Every year, millions of tourists visit the place to do any or all of the following - meet and greet their favorite celebrities, be discovered as a star, or to simply stare in awe at their favorite and not-so-favorite TV and movie personalities.

The sign "Hollywoodland" was built to launch a residential development located in the hills overseeing Hollywood. As time passed by, the signage deteriorated and efforts by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce to restore it was granted, albeit the word "land" was dropped. "Hollywood" is a registered trademark. As mandated by the law on intellectual property involving trademarks, the word and sign itself cannot be appropriated without prior permission from the HCC.

Hollywood is a favorite destination for tourists not only to see your favorite stars but offers a lot of entertainment as well.

The district is home to the famous Ripley (Believe or Not) Museum. The place is also where you can drop by famous theatres and studios. If you are something of a budding super star, Hollywood is definitely the place for you.
