California: Home to the Sports Stars

California is not only home to Hollywood rich and famous but home to a lot of sports stars as well. A lot of certified teams and players from this state have joined various sports events and leagues, and have won the coveted trophy of the champions.

California has a total of 22 College sports team coming from city of San Diego, Stockton, San Francisco and San Jose, among others. It has two high school sports team, the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) and High School Internet Network. The state also has 17 amateur leagues of which are mainly coming from the Bakersfield and Fresno.

Among these, the most sought after sports team, the one who are getting the most number screaming audience, hail from the professional league. These include the Major League Soccer, National Hockey League, Arena Football League, National Football League, Major League Baseball and of course who would miss, the National Basketball Association.

The National Basketball Association is the world's first men's professional basketball organization, which is composed of 30 teams from the Eastern and the Western coast. The California state has four major teams that are included in the NBA. These are the Sacramento Kings, Los Angeles Lakers, Los Angeles Clippers and the Golden State Warriors. The most popular of which are the L.A. Lakers and Sacramento Kings. And who wouldn't know Kobe Bryant from L.A. Lakers? Over the years, Kobe has founded his following, not only from California fans, but from all parts of the globe as well. The L.A. Lakers was known as the Detroit Gems, and then changed into Minneapolis Lakers, and finally remained as L.A. Lakers. They have already won 14 championships and 28 conference titles. The infamous Phil Jackson heads the team and is owned by Jerry Buss. The Sacramento Kings, on the other hands, got Rick Adelman as head coach.

California Sports Information

The National Football League, which has a total of 32 rival teams, has three teams from California including Oakland Raiders, San Francisco 49ers and the San Diego Chargers. The general manager and owner of the Raiders is Al Davis with head coach Art Shell. The team's colors are silver and black, which has remained since their debut in 1963. San Francisco 49ers are also one of the Raider's rivals. It is owned by Denise deBartolo and John York, and is managed by Scot McCloughan, with Mike Nolan as their head coach. San Diego Chargers was formerly known as the Los Angeles Chargers because of spending their first season in L.A. The team is managed by AJ Smith and is owned by Alex Spanos and George Pernicano, while its head coach is Marty Schottenheimer.

Not only can you find fine studios and theatres in California, sports enthusiasts will definitely love the place as well. It has a total of seven arenas including San Diego Arena and Qualcomm Stadium. Los Angeles got Staples Center and San Francisco houses the Cow Palace. ARCO Arena, Arrowhead Pond and San Jose arena are also some places where you can get the latest action in sports.
